Collapse! is really easy to learn to play, but getting good at it takes
practice.
Start a game and you will see several rows of blocks, different colors on
color machines, different patterns on greyscale machines. Look for a group where
three or more of the same type of block are touching. Tap on one of those blocks
and the whole group will pop out of sight, and you'll get some points. The
bigger the group the more points!
When you remove a group any blocks above them will collapse down, and if you
manage to remove a column the remaining columns will move in to fill up the gap.
All the time while you are looking for groups new blocks pop into place in a
row at the bottom of the screen. When that row is full it gets pushed up onto
your play area, moving up all of the other blocks on the screen. If any block is
pushed off the top of the screen it's Game Over, so try to stop tall piles
forming!
If you survive to the end of the level, you will be awarded huge bonus points
for every clear line, so try to keep all of the piles as low as possible.
Some extra blocks may appear as you play and these can help or hinder you:
- Black Bombs: These blow a large hole in the pile of blocks!
- Colored Bombs: Tap on one of these and all of the blocks of that color on
the screen will vanish! (On greyscale machines this will be by pattern)
- Flashers: These switch color several times a second so time your taps
carefully to include them in big groups!
Every level the blocks come
in faster and faster until your tapping like crazy just to keep up!
If it starts off too tame for you try changing the difficulty level for a
greater chalenge.
There are a couple of useful features we have built in:
- You can tap on the status display area to pause the game at any time.
- You can also press the scoll up or down keys to pause the game.
- You can choose to display the and/or battery level from within the Game
Settings menu.
If you downloaded the game straight from the internet, from Astraware's web
pages, or from one of the popular Palm download sites, then your copy is in
'Demo' form. Demo
means
that you can play 10 games for free, and then decide whether to register it or
not. After these games are up, the program will display a short message before
each game.
In Demo form, you can play 10 games of Collapse! for free, as you decide
whether you like it or not. After these games are up, the program will display a
short message asking you to register or purchase a full version from a shop!
If you beam a demo to someone else, and they also like the game, then
they can register it either by purchasing a copy from a local store, or by
purchasing online.
Registering Online:
For those that like the speed and convenience of buying of the internet, when
you register for the game, you'll get a key which will unlock the game and
remain valid for future 1.x upgrades. Go to the web page at http://www.astraware.com/palm/collapse
for
more details.
You'll need to know your HotSync ID which you can find by running
Collapse!, and going into the menu, and selecting the 'register' option. Your
HotSync ID (or username) will be filled in for you below.
When you
register, Astraware will generate a key based on your ID, which will normally be
sent out by email within 48 hours of you registering. When you receive your key,
go to the same register option, and enter the key into the space provided.
Registered users of the game are entitled to submit their high scores to our
