1 Description

Pocket Watch turns your handheld into a pocket watch: If you turn on your handheld with the power button Pocket Watch shows a popup box with the current time and date for up to three seconds. If you don't do anything within these three seconds the handheld switches off again. If you press a button, tap on the screen or write into the silk area the clock popup box disappears automatically and the underlaying program will process the user input.

2 Installation and Setup

Install Pocket Watch on your handheld and launch Pocket Watch. Pocket Watch will show a configuration dialog. Select the settings you want and press the OK button to make the changes effective and terminate Pocket Watch. The Cancel button terminates Pocket Watch and no changes to the settings will be stored.

Please read the Read Me Notes. They contain last-minute product information for Pocket Watch.

Even the program has been tested thoroughly, using it is at your own risk!

2.1 System Requirements

Pocket Watch for OS 3.5 is using Notifications only available in the latest PalmOS® versions. It will not run on any earlier release of PalmOS®. A Pocket Watch Hack edition is also available. It offers more features and runs on earlier OS versions as well.

2.2 Before using Pocket Watch

Even Pocket Watch is a system extension based on Notifications and not a hack all the precautions usually recommended when installing a hack should be considered to protect yourself against potential data loss:

  • First hotsync and backup your handheld (use a backup program like BackupBuddy or the freeware BackupAll)!
  • Check the 'Known Issues and Incompatibilities' section in the Read Me Notes.
  • If you experience problems it's the best to disable all hacks, then test Pocket Watch and then enable them one by one.
  • If something goes wrong and a normal soft reset does not solve the problem,
reset your handheld while the scroll up button is pressed. This kind of reset doesn't execute system extensions and hacks when booting. After booting disable either Pocket Watch or the incompatible hack. You shouldn't have to do a hard reset!
